We have started our spelling groups for the 2009-2010 school year. We will be
following the guidelines below:
Parents,
On Monday, your child will be given the words in class and asked to cut them
and place them in their bag. Your child will have to sort the words into the
correct sort.
On Tuesday night the homework will be for your child to write a sentence
with the two of the words.
On Wednesday night the homework will be for your child to write a sentence
with two more of the words.
On Thursday night the homework will be for your child to write each word one
time.
Guidelines for sentence writing will be:
The sentence must contain at least five words.
Only one sentence will begin with “I.”
The sentence must make sense.
The sentence must start with a capital and end with punctuation.
We are going to see how this works. I want the students to be able to write
and read these words in other areas other than spelling. I want these words
to transition over to their daily writing. We will see how well that
