This school year will mark my 9th year teaching 3rd graders at White
Oak Elementary School. I enjoy working with children because it is
wonderful to see the world through their eyes as they experience new
possibilities. In my classroom I strive to provide learning opportunities
in a positive environment so that each student can realize their own unique
potential. School is a place where all children should feel free to learn
what they need to know to be successful in the real world.
Some background information:
I grew up in south-central Pennsylvania (York County). My favorite subject
in school was Social Studies because I always loved learning about far away
people and places. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a
minor concentration in History. Go SEAHAWKS!! My husband and I have been
married for 26 years. Mr. Simmons retired several years ago from the Marine
Corps after serving his country for 26 years. We have 2 sons and a
daughter.
Each student should try their best to learn and accomplish the skills and
goals assigned to them. We work hard in class every day. Independence is
fostered in our third graders, and we work toward each student taking on more
responsibilities after the first few weeks of the school year. Having a
regular routine for completing homework, going to bed at a reasonable time,
eating a nutritious breakfast, and coming to school prepared and ready to
learn will help students achieve their educational goals. Providing and
encouraging these basics will help your child be prepared to have a great
school day everyday!
