By now, your students and your household have hopefully settled into a routine again. It is always difficult to come back from Christmas Break and begin the second semester. With the recent nice weather, settling into a routine has been a challenge. But, it has been a smooth beginning to the second semester and students seem to be adjusting to the school routine. As always, we strive, as a school, to keep you informed about important activities and events that are up coming on our school calendar. Beginning the week of January 16th we will begin Dibels testing at Richland. Our Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 2nd and Friday, February 3rd. On Thursday, school will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. and conferences will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Friday, there is no school for students and conferences will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The State Writing Assessments will be for fourth and eighth grade and the State Science Assessments will be given to fifth and eighth grade. The State Reading and Math Assessments will be for grades 3rd through 8th. Specific dates and times will be coming later in February.Eighth grade visitation had been scheduled for Wednesday, February 29th. That date has been changed to later in the school year. Eighth grade visitation day will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012. On that day, the eighth grade students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. and they will go to the high school and eat lunch and begin their orientation. We will also have the activities presentations at the end of the eighth grade visitation program. During the Activities presentation, the eighth grade students will meet with coaches and sponsors at the high school to get information on the different sports teams and clubs offered at the high school. Again, thank you for your continued support for our school and staff. With your support and assistance your student will have every opportunity to be successful.Mr. Stephen E. GrammerPrincipal
