Chocolate Fever has hit 302!!!
Tell your parents about our Taste-testing today. Some great adjectives and "juicy words" were heard around the tables.
Check out the "Chocolate Page" on the left for more details.
Flat Stanley
Our Flat Stanleys are getting ready to visit Grade Three friends in Upper Gullies! And we are getting ready to host their Flat Stanleys! Please ensure your Flat Stanley is in school next week, as we need to pack his "suitcase".
Parents, learn

We need empty tissue boxes for Valentine holders. Please send in an empty tissue box next week. We'll be decorating them on Friday.
Note - I'm in the process of moving the practice websites to individual pages. Check the pages on the left and keep checking back as I reorganize and add to these.

We enjoy books from this website. Try it at home:

We are writing up a "storm" in 302! During our writer's workshops the students are learning about authors crafts and techniques such as...
- writing a strong lead
- simile
- metaphor
- writing "small moments" stories
- the 5 sentence paragraph (tell your parents about "the hand":
topic sentence, tell, tell, tell, thinky pinky)
and lots more to come.
This week and next we will spend some time writing procedural pieces, giving step-by-step instructions. We'll even compile a chocolate cookbook!
The next genre we'll be studying is Persuasive writing.
Social Studies news:
In Social Studies we're learning about the difference in urban and rural communities. We bopped to the Fables in this video of St. John's:

Our students are "selling" real estate in their preferred destinations, urban or rural. Their advertisements are very convincing!
Math news...
Who's filling
the Estimation Jar this week?
It's Emma!
We're well into our unit on Adding and Subtracting.
Lots of opportunity to practice this at home, in the car, at the store, etc. Select Adding and Subtracting from this index to view the outcomes:
