I have been working as an instructional resource teacher since 1987. I've
taught students in Kindergarten to Grade 12, but I've mainly worked with
in the primary grades. This is my eleventh year working at Mary Queen of the
World School.
My educational background consists of a B.A. (Ed) and B.Sp.Ed.
from Memorial University. I received my M.Ed. (Literacy) from Mount Saint
Vincent University. I also have ESL training from York University (Toronto).
Since that time, I've completed additional training in programs specifically
geared towards teaching reading to children with learning disabilities.
In 2008-09, I taught in Conway, South Carolina as part of the VIF,
(Visiting International Faculty) Program. I worked with elementary school
students, all of whom had diagnosed learning disabilities.
The main purpose of my website is to provide support to K-2 students who need
additional practice with pre-requisite skills needed to complete the regular
curriculum. Parents of children with exceptionalities also need support and
information, which I provide in "Parent Links".
I'm also providing my resources to other Instructional Resource Teachers by
providing Notebook lessons I've created for teaching early reading skills;
phonological awareness, phonic skills and reading strategies.
