We are currently learning about safety: safety on the school bus, fire safety at school and at home. We will also learn about Halloween safety. To complete our study there will be a little TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT SAFETY activity. We will also discuss the features of a great Poster and design one around the topic of SAFETY. We hope to have these completed in time to enter them in a contest on October 14.

THESE ARE NOTES FOR MUCH LATER

Language Arts

Christmas is almost upon us ....

Besides practising for the Christmas concert we are learning about winter celebrations like Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, and Ramadan. We will also be reading and writing about REINDEER. Be sure to ask your child to tell you a few facts about  reindeer. They might just surprise you. Hopefully we will get a fine day to drop our letters in the mailbix to Santa. tha kids worked very hard on this project.

So it is time to write our letters to Santa. Children will create a Christmas Wish List and address an envelope with the help of their parents. At school we will learn the parts of the letter, how the letter gets from school to Santa, write the letter, and finally mail it to Santa. Hopefully, Santa will write back... be sure to write the return address clearly.

We will also read and write about Reindeer and how other cultures celebrate the season.

ONCE UPON A TIME.....
Mrs. Chafe's class was working on a FAIRY TALE unit.
We will be reading traditional FT and discussing their common features.  We will also read fractured versions of the traditional tales and finally the children will write their own versions. It promises to be an enchanted unit of work.
