In order for children to become fluent readers it is very important that
they are able to read about 300 sight words. Sight words must be read
immediately without sounding out.
Over the next few months we will send home 25 words each Monday. Please
ask your children to read the sight words to you. If they are unable to
read the word within 3-5 seconds or if they need to sound the word out,
highlight it and write it on a flash/index card to review until they can
read it fluently upon sight.
A little practise and your child will be reading fluently in no time.
