It is hard to believe we are entering into our last week of May! The grade twos really enjoyed the reading of ‘Jake the Puffin’s Amazing Adventure’ on Friday afternoon. The book was published by the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture. This week we are hoping for good weather especially Friday, June 1st, so the students can participate in Fun Day. There will be a permission slip for Fun Day sent home within the next few days. It is very important that your child be dressed in layers which can be removed if it’s hot or put back on if it’s cold. Also, please try to apply sunscreen before the children come to school on Friday. Your child can also pack their sunscreen and reapply as needed throughout the day. A lunch of a hot dog and a drink will be provided. Packing some extra water for the day would be a good idea as well.
In language arts, the children have been reading a variety of novels and have worked on many activities related to the novel.
In mathematics, we have begun the study of time. They have been reading the time to the hour and half hour. Please review and practice with your child at home.
The following is a list of upcoming events:
- Fun Day this Friday, June 1st. If Fun Day is cancelled due to bad weather it will be held next Friday, June 8th.
- Please return any library books or baggy books that you may have at home.
- The grade twos will be attending a Literacy Fair at College of the North Atlantic on Wednesday, June 13th and a field trip to Commissariat House on Friday, June 8th. Permission slips will be sent home later next week.
- World Oceans Day is Saturday, June 9thand there will be many activities related to the ocean at the Marine Institute from 10:00 – 3:00. The Marine Institute is located at 155 Ridge Road.
