Grade 4 Weekly Memo

May 28th

A memo was sent home last week regarding the upcomingfield trip to the Johnson Geo Centre. The field trip will be taking place on June 6th and will cover many outcomes in our final science unit on rocks and minerals. Permission slips and fees are due back on or before June 1st. Parents are welcomed to volunteer as chaperones however will be required to pay the GeoCentre’s entrance fee of $5.75 as well as provide their own transportation.

 

OurElementary Spring Concert is fast approaching. It will be held this Wednesday (May 30th) at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the office now for $3.00 each (advance sales only).

 

In Language Arts last week students created their own pourquoi tale toexplain how something "came to be" in our world, as well we learned the characteristics of a fable. This week we will continue with our “Tall Tales” unit looking at folktales next.

 

We continued our focus on decimals last week in Math, relating them toreal life situations. We will carry onour work with decimals linking the place value to the value of money.

 

In Health last week we continued our journey through the digestive system, watching a video which showed the process of digestion in a silly way! The students really enjoyed the story! Next up, we will be looking at the urinary track, its organs and functions.

 

Last week in French we practiced our animal vocab with some listening exercises and this week we will continue to work towards creating the ultimate class logo!

 

In Religion last week we learned about forgiveness and taking responsibility for our decisions in "Joseph and his Brothers".

 

Next in Social Studies we will be looking at how human interaction shapes the earth. Following this will be a study of Canada’s regions, populations, government and symbols.

 

Last week in Science we had ‘good vibrations’ when we completed an experiment to find out where sound really comes from. This week we will look at pitch and compare animal’s hearing to that of human’s.

 

This week in art we will be creating Irish Flag decorations for the Spring Concert.
