Weekly Memos

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Kindergarten. I am looking forward to working with your child this
year. We have an exciting year planned that we are sure your child will
enjoy. As we settle into school, I will be posting more information on the
website. Please check on a regular basis.

Due to the fact that there are four groups of Kindergartens this year, we
have decided to name each
group in order to avoid confusion. Each group has been given a colour name.
If your child is
attending the morning session in my class, then their name will be the Red
Group. If your child is
attending the afternoon session in my class they will be called the Blue
Group.

DECEMBER IN KINDERGARTEN:

Please continue encouraging your child to practice printing their first and last name
at home.

Letters: Mm, Hh, Kk, Ll
* We will focus on correct formation of both the upper and lower case letters.

* Children will be introduced to the phonic sounds and correct formation for
each letter.

* We would appreciate if parents could review these letters at home. Children
should be able to recognize these letters, print them from memory and
generate the phonic sound for each letter.

Colour Word: White

Religion - Celebrations - Chinese New Year

Health - Winter Safety/Personal Hygiene

Science - Animals in Winter/Seasons - Winter Weather

Art - Colour White/Winter Activities

Math - Numbers To 10/Exploring Patterns

The first Kinderstart session is Friday, January 20th. There will be no classes for the current
Kindergarten students on this day.
Colour Days - Children should bring an item for the show and tell on these
days to help further develop their speaking and listening skills. They are
also welcome to bring a
snack pertaining to that colour: if possible.

Baggie Books: Please practice nightly.

Change of Clothing: It is not uncommon for Kindergarten students to have a
little accident or spills at times throughout the year. Please send along a
change of clothing in a plastice bag that we can keep in your child's locker.
Please remember to label all clothing.

Paint Shirt: Your child will need a paint shirt. An adult t-shirt/dress
shirt will do.
