What is covered in Social Studies 7?

There are six units that are covered in Social Studies 7.  The first unit 
deals with Empowerment and the other five deal with Canada's past. The
course looks in detail at Canada's first inhabitants, the Aboriginal Peoples
and continues to present day.

What is Empowerment?

When people are empowered they have the ability to make choices and change 
their world if they think something different needs to happen.

Will there be a lot of homework?

For the most part students will complete most work during class time.  
However students are still responsible for any unfinished class work. They
also need to be reminded to put in sufficient studying time for both quizzes
and tests.

What is covered in Social Studies 8?

Socials 8 looks at Newfoundland's history from the earliest settlements up 
to present day. It deals with topics such as the fishery, First Nations
Peoples and self government.

What is covered in Social Studies 9?

Socials 9 builds on aspects found in socials 7.  It focuses on Canada's 
place in the world and includes aspects of geography and culture.
