Will you administer Tylenol to my child during the school day?

Tylenol will be given to your child if you provide the medicine to school in
it's oringinal container and sign parental permission for over the counter
medicine. There are students that will only take liquid, chewable,
tablets, and certain flavors such as grape, cherry or orange.

Is it all right for my child to transport medication to school?

The Allenstown School policy is that an adult needs to bring medicine to
school to prevent other students from taking it or misplacing it. The only
exception is for inhalers and epinephrine but only if a doctor and parent
has signed a form determining they are capable of doing such.

Can I bring homemade baked goods for a classroom party ?

It is important to check with your student's teacher regarding food
allergies. When you recieve a allergy letter for the classroom that would
be mailed home to you then baked goods would not be allowed. Alternatives
for celebrating could be ice cream cups with the ingredients listed. Any
item that states processed with other nut products is not acceptable. Food
allergies are a life threatening situation and it is taken seriously.
Please check with your classroom teacher or the nurse before bringing in
food. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

Can my child attend school with live head lice?

If a child has lice they need to go home and be treated with over the
counter product such as Rid or Nix. Once they have done the treatment all
nits need to be combed out of there hair to prevent reinfestation. Members
of your family also should be checked for head lice. Head lice is spread
from head to head contact, wearing another persons hat, sharing combs, sleep
overs at another persons house. Treatment also includes washing all
bedding, thoroughly vacumning the house, washing hats that have been worn
and sterilizing combs and brushes. An infected student needs to be seen by
the school nurse before reentering school. When a student is found to have
head lice the rest of the classroom will be checked by the school nurse.
Parents will only be notified if their individual child has head lice. It
is important for parents to check their own children periodically for head
lice. If you see your child scratching or itching their hair alot you
should check them. Head lice can be found around the ears and back of the
head close to the base of the hair follicle. They can spread further onto
the hair shaft too. If you suspect your child has head lice do not
hesitate to contact the school for assistance. Please report all cases to
the school nurse to prevent further infestation.
