At the Allenstown Elementary School, we belive that education is
important and we maintain an environment that is safe, free of
distraction and supportive of learning. Each child is expected to
behave appropriately in all school settings and activities and accept
responsibility for his/her actions and the consequences of those
actions. Parents and staff share the responsibility for maintaining
and supporting the school's behavioral objective and working together
to correct problems that arise.
GENERAL SCHOOL RULES
Students are expected to:
1. Treat adults and each other with respect and courtesy.
2. Walk quietly in the corridors.
3. Get teacher or staff permission before going to the office.
4. Use appropriate language and gestures.
5. Refrain from physical and veral aggression.
6. Leave the school grounds after dismissal unless special
arrangements have been made.
7. Remain on school grounds during school hours unless signed out by
parent/guardian.
8. Respect and take care of school property.
PLAYGROUND RULES
To ensure safety, courtesy, cooperation, healthy activity and equal
opportunity for all students on the playground, students are to:
1. Enter the playground no earlier than 8:20 A.M., when supervision
begins.
2. Play on the playgrond in sight of the supervisor and not in the
corridors, lavatories, around classrooms or close to the windows.
3. Get supervisor's permission before leaving the playground.
4. Report any problem on the playground to the supervisor.
5. Refrain from using abusive language and engaging in rough play.
6. When bell rings, move to the blacktop and then walk to class line
and wait in an orderly manner to enter the building.
CLASSROOM RULES/HOMEWORK
Each classroom teacher will inform you and your child of classroom
rules, consequences and rewards, at the beginning of the school year.
Homework is assigned to extend and reinforce classroom learning, develop
sound work habits and assist students in becoming self-directed.
Appropriate homework assignments include practice, enrichment
activities, research or individual study projects, reading in
preparation for class, review for test and daily reading.
Homework is based on student's needs, ability and achievement range.
It is positive and reinforces students' individual skills and/or
interests
ITEM NOT PERMITTED AT SCHOOL
To ensure a successful learning environment, some items are not allowed
at school without prior teacher aproval. These include:
1. Toys, trading cards, water pistols, balloons and noise makers.
2. Tape recorders, radios, electronic games and personal sports
equipmet.
3. Gum,candy
Items deemed unsafe are held in the office pending parent notification.
These include firecrackers, knives, matches and anything else used in
an unsafe manner.
