| Each week in kindergarten we focus on a letter of the alphabet. Many of the activities and lessons that
week are linked to the letter. It is very helpful to practice the alphabet at home with your child. We
practice the letters names, sounds, and their signs (in sign language). We focus on using uppercase
and lower case letters. To increase the practice at home try some of these activities:
- flash cards
- alphabet memory (matching like letters or matching uppercase letters with their lowercase partners)
- look for letters that your child knows in the books you read and even in the print around the
environment (street signs, newspapers, television commercials)
- practice writing the letters
- together make a list of words that start with certain letters
Our "Letter of the Week" lessons will begin with A during the week of September 15th.
