| Welcome back to AES! So many things are happening in the music room this year. We will be starting a
3rd grade guitar class on Wednesday, September 24th. Third graders who have their own guitars will
be bringing them to school, and will begin learning simple chords and songs. This class begins at 1:45
and ends at 2:15 every Wednesday. If you are a third grade parent that didn't get the handout about
our new program, please let me know.
Fourth graders have their new recorders and are VERY enthusiastic about learning to play. They will be
giving a concert in the beginning of December here at AES. Fourth grade parents - you will hearing
more about this as we get closer to that month.
This year we have 5th grade music at AES! Our first unit is about the composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
Students used our NetTrekker search engine to research facts about Beethoven, completed 2 fun
worksheets about him, and will soon be watching the well-known movie BEETHOVEN LIVES UPSTAIRS.
Future units include a study of the guitar, both electric and acoustic, and, in the spring, our first spring
musical, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK, LIVE, JUNIOR. Watch this space for details!
