Member of the H-DHS Social Studies Department faculty since 2001. I was born
on October 20, 1976 and grew up in Winchendon, MA - the oldest in a family
of four. I attended Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School in Gardner, MA from
grades K-8, and then graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High
School in Fitchburg, MA in 1994. I earned my bachelor's degree in History
from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and then my Master's
Degree in Education - Integrated Studies from Cambridge College in
Cambridge, MA in 2001. I began my teaching career at Hillsboro-Deering High
School as a long-term sub in 2001 and have been here ever since. I am as
excited to be at this school for my ninth school year and as committed to
realizing the goal of creating a community of learners approaching greatness
today as I was the first day I walked into the building. I am the father of
four wonderful children - Ashley, Olivia, Timothy and Lauren, ages 13, 12, 11
and 9, respectively.
My mission is to provide a learning environment that challenges students to
reach their potential in terms of character, citizenship and academic
success. I provide structure, instruction, assessment, and
assistance in an engaging manner, using a variety of approaches and
strategies. However, I do not provide the learning - each and every student
must own their own learning process. To help students learn responsibility,
I hold all students to high standards both in terms of coursework and
personal accountability. Above all else, I demand respect from all students
for their peers, their teacher, and for the diversity of opinions and
backgrounds that exist in the world in which they live.
