Second grade students have been working hard on their set design for their
upcoming performance, Wackadoo Zoo. The performance will be on April 19 at
6:30 PPM in the Tom Mansfield Gymnasium. As always, the show is free and
open to the public.
This month, the fourth grade students travel to the Currier Museum of Art and
the Millyard Museum. This trip hightlights and integrates Social Studies and
the Arts. And, at the same time, exposes the students to some real
treasures, housed closed by in Manchester, NH.
Fifth grade students have been creating masks using plastercraft. Applying
the plaster to their faces, they have worked together to help each other
throughout the entire process. They will begin painting their masks soon,
and when finished will be on display.
Sixth grade students are diligently drawing a cityscape in 2-point
perspective. I see some future architects in this grade!!! The six grade
students will also be traveling to Boston to visit the MFA - The Museum of
Fine Arts.
All the students continue to explore color and shapes using various mediums.
Artist in Residence, Marek Bennett, arrives in May to work with the fifth
grade students. Marek, a comic creator, will work with the students to tie
in comics with their science curriculum. The culminating event is scheduled
for May 31. Stay tuned.....
