I have been at New Boston Central School since 2005. I hold a Bachelor of
Science degree in elementary education/mild-moderate special education and a
Master of Education from Rhode Island College. Prior to coming to New
Boston Central School, I taught for six years in a multi-age classroom
(grades 1, 2 and 3) in Barrington, Rhode Island.
While teaching in Rhode Island I was able to participate in numerous
professional development opportunities at the school level, the district
level, and the state level.
At the school level, I was a member of the Mathematics Curriculum
Development Committee.
At the district level, I was a member of the Rhode Island Mathematics
Consortium for the Institute for Learning through the University of
Pittsburg. "The Institute for Learning (IFL) focuses on what it takes for
all students in public school districts to become enthusiastic, effective,
and independent learners as well as how educators can inspire, foster, and
sustain high levels of achievement in their students."
At the state level, I was able to participate as a School Accountability for
Learning and Teaching (SALT) member on two separate occasions for the Rhode
Island Department of Education. "SALT is a school-centered cycle of
activities to improve school and student performance in the Rhode Island
public schools. The SALT cycle was developed by the department of education
with the help of many Rhode Island educators."
Here at New Boston Central School I have been able to continue with
professional development. I enjoy being a member of the SAU's Mathematics
Committee, as well as a member of our PBIS, SINI, and Technology teams.
I live in Bow with my husband, two sons, and numerous animals.
When you walk into our classroom, you will find eager learners that have
great respect and compassion for each other. My goal for your children is
to instill a love of learning as well as get them to become independent
critical thinkers.
