Hi, my name is Karen Greene. I have been working here at NBCS for
approximately 7 1/2 years. I have, however, been in the teaching field in
some capacity or another for over 29 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood from Rivier
College, Nashua, NH. I have also worked as a special educator for Easter
Seals. I have been an Early Childhood Director of both corporate childcare
centers, as well as small, family-run centers. I also have experience as a
reading & math Title 1 teacher, and as a teacher in summer literacy camp here
at NBCS. I am also a validator for NAEYC. I have taught every age-group at
the Early Childhood level. My personal favorites have always been the
kindergarten age group and infancy.
I have two children, Abbey & Seth. Seth is a sophomore in high school,
and Abbey is now in fourth grade. We are extremely busy with all of their
activities! We are a very active family. You may often find us at the YMCA,
especially in the winter months! We also have quite a few pets at home,
although not as many as some of my previous students here at NBCS!!!!
Our mission is to provide a safe, respectful, enjoyable environment in
which the children may flourish in all areas of development; socially &
emotionally, physically, and cognitively. We challenge children to be the
best that they can be by providing positive learning experiences & role-
models in a hands-on environment that encourages exploration & creativity.
Opportunities for small group, large group, and individual activities are
balanced throughout the day. There is also a good balance of quiet/active
activities. It is our goal to prepare children to be as ready as they can be
for the first grade or readiness year that will follow. Communication and
parent involvement are also keys to continued success.
