What is the C.A.R.E. Program?

The C.A.R.E. Program requires that a parent or guardian call the
school before 8:30 a.m. if your child is going to be absent. The
answering machine is on 24 hours a day. The phone number is 635-
8569. Leave a message about your child's absence. You may leave
one message that will cover more than one day's absence. If you
do not leave a message a school volunteer will phone to check on
your child.

How do I pay for my child's lunches?

Each student has a SNAP account. This is a debit account.
Students can purchase lunch, milk or a sandwich after money has
been deposited to this account. Each student will receive a
laminated ID card which will be kept at school. On the first day
of each week please send a deposit in an envelope marked with the
student's name, teacher, Bar Code # and total amount inside
envelope.

How can I help my child adjust to school rules?

Using a common language at home and school would be helpful. At
Pelham Elementary the students are taught the I Care rules.
1. We listen to each other. 2. Hands are for helping, not
hurting. 3. We use I-Care-Language. 4. We care about each
other's feelings. 5. We are responsible for what we say and do.

The Family Handbook which the children brought home has more
information on the specifics of conduct and expectations for
students at school.
