How many books do I have to read every trimester?
You are required to read 6 books every trimester: award winner, fantasy, science fiction/mystery,
biography/historical fiction, and 2 choice books.
How do I get credit for a book I read?
You must create a one-pager. A one-pager is a mini project done on one piece of paper. It must
contain writing and drawing/color. The one-pager must provide enough information to prove you
read the book. It must also include the title, author, and number of pages.
During the third trimester you will also begin doing book reviews to prepare for sixth grade.
What kind of toad is Yoshi?
He is a an oriental fire bellied toad.
What is your favorite kind of candy?
I love M&Ms, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, and Kit Kats.
What is your favorite book?
My favorite children's book is Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse which we read as a class in fifth grade.
My favorite adult book is Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier.
Who is your favorite poet?
I have many but Billy Collins, Ted Kooser, and Naomi Shihab Nye are probably my top three.
How do I know if a book is worth more than one book?
A typical fifth grade novel is 150-250 pages. If your book is longer or shorter there's a chance that
it could be more than one or less than one book. You need to bring in the book and we need to
look at the book together and decide how many it is worth for you.
