| I enjoyed seeing many of you during Curriculum Night!
THANK YOU TO 4 WINDS VOLUNTEERS FOR 2007-2008: Jen Houde and Susan Williams
NECAP testing is scheduled for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
October 2,3 and 4. Please send your child to school refreshed, rested
and ready to go! Thanks for your help with this.
Paperless Email Communication: Mary Cantlin is working on our list serve.
We'll send you a group email as soon as it is ready. In the meantime, please
don't hesitate to call or email with any communication.
Math: We are currently reviewing, "Mathematical Thinking at
Grade Four." Students are working with number sense, place value,
operations, and equivalency.
Reading and Writing: We have been exploring personal narratives. Students
have read several personal narratives from our fourth grade anthology. They
have also heard several stories read aloud. Students have studied several
stories to enrich our understanding of the writing traits of idea and
organization. Students are writing their own personal narratives during
writing workshop.
Science: We are exploring our local ecosystem, with a study of ponds and
streams. The weather has been beautifully cooperative! Studenst have enjoyed
several excursions to a local pond, a stream and into the woods. Ask your
child about the organisms he/she discovered living in or around the water.
We will soon be studying the Earth's largest ecosystems, the biomes. Students
will integrate this study with technology when they research biomes on the web.
