What's Happening in Art Class?
Catholic Schools Week was fun-filled and Grandparents enjoyed the fabulous treasures our young artists created. With our continued focus on our Elements of Art, artists (Primary Grades) will also be working on projects for the upcoming Curriculum Fair in April, large class art projects for the Auction Event in April, and of course, more masterpieces for the Art Show in May.
Currently, we have a variety of curriculum-integration art projects in progress, or on the horizon, including: Outer Space, Australia, & Rain Forest Animals to name a few. Our 3rd & 4th Grade Artists are honing their Self-Portrait skills; and 5th & 6th Grade Artists are creating fabulous self-figures and will showcase their works in exciting and imaginative ways. Photos will be shared soon!

Reminder for 5th Grade Artists
Please remember to bring in a photo of yourself in an action position. You will need it for class on Wednesday, January 25th. Skiing? Running? Playing Basketball? Swimming? If you are unable to find a photo, please notify me before class next week. Thank you.
(Jan. 9th) Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is fast-approaching. It will take place during the week of January 30th, and the 2012 theme fits perfectly with our school's mission: Faith, Service & Academic Excellence. All artists will be directing their love and creativity into special pieces, these next few weeks, to be shared with Grandparents who are in attendance on Grandparent's Day. More to come!
(Dec. 31st) Happy New Year!
5th Grade Artists - The deadline is fast approaching for the Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl Poster Contest. All posters must be complete by Thursday, Jan. 5th to submit to Mrs. Donais. Please be prepared as we will use our class time on Wednesday, Jan. 4th. Please also note, for those that need additional time, I will be available after school on Thursday, Jan. 5th until 4:00 pm.
(Dec. 22nd) Merry Christmas!
Wishing all artists a peaceful Christmas and a fun-filled school break.
(Dec. 14th) - 6th Grade Artists - Reminder
Please bring in a photograph of yourself, in an action position if possible, for next week's Art Class on December 22nd. Skiing? Playing Basketball? Fishing? Dancing? Rock Climbing?.... I can't wait to see. We will continue on with our Edgar Degas Unit - focusing on the figure and movement.
Thank you
(Dec. 1st) - What's happening in Art Class?
With the Art Fundraiser, Pumpkin Service Project, & Church Holiday Fair behind us, artists will now focus on a little bit of Art History and Seasonal-project-fun before the Christmas Break.
Our 5th/6th Grade Artists will observe works by Edgar Degas with a focus on the figure and movement. Our 5th Grade Artists will also have the opportunity to participate in a Poster Contest featuring Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl (Thank you, Mrs. Donais!). Artists will demonstrate their understanding of wildfire prevention and basic environmental conservation principles. I will be looking for their application of the elements of art in their design, and I look forward to seeing their gifts shine.

One-of-a-kind Harvest Portraits will fill the School Gallery soon! They will then create Christmas-themed Stained Glass-like pieces for our school windows.
Our PreK - 1st Grade Artists will apply their elements of art through literary-inspired works including: Harold and The Purple Crayon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Snow Tree and more....!
