What is the TRMS Parent Teacher Student Association?
We are an organization of parents, teachers and students who are
committed to
helping Timberlane Regional Middle School be the best that it can
be. We are
affiliated with the National PTA, which lobbies Congress on the
behalf of
children and schools nationwide.
When do we meet?
We meet the second Monday of most months at 6:30 p.m. in the TRMS
library. .
Food is provided, and anyone can attend. We would love to see you
there! More
information is posted on this website under calendar and meeting
agendas and
minutes.
How do I become a member?
We will be sending membership forms home at the beginning of the
school year,
and will also have forms available at school open houses and in
the school's
front office. You can also get a form by e-mailing Karen McLain
at
karen@homecoach.org. Once you have the form, just fill it out and
send it
with $5 per member to TRMS PTSA, 44 Greenough Rd, Plaistow, NH
03865.
Why should I join?
By joining you are giving your support to the students, staff and
parents at
TRMS. High membership numbers are one way to show others that our
parents,
students and staff really care about our school. The membership
drive is also
one of our fundraisers. Once you are a member, you will also
receive:
 PTSA and National PTA updates
 on-line parenting resources at www.pta.org
 some discounts
What is my money used for?
The PTSAs main fundraisers are the membership drive, t-
shirt/sweatshirt
sales, and silent auction. We also get some money from the school
magazine
drive. Last year (2007-2008), the PTSA received and spent or
appropriated
$14,576.51. The PTSA spent money on the 6th Grade Halloween
party, Welcome
Back staff breakfast, Senior Tea, 8th Grade Farewell Celebration,
TRHS
scholarships, TRHS Post Prom Party, Reflections Art Program,
student support
including Camp Lincoln scholarships for students who needed
assistance, Staff
Appreciation Week, and dues to the state and national PTAs, and
also
appropriated money toward future school equipment and programming.
Can I volunteer?
YES. We would love to have you. Look at our Volunteer
Opportunities page to
see where we need help; then e-mail us. A
volunteer form is also on the back of the membership form, which
will be
going home at the beginning of the school year, and which will be
available in
the front office and at open houses. If you volunteer, PLEASE log
your
volunteer hours and submit them to Laura once a month.
Why should I volunteer?
Traditionally, all the Timberlane feeder towns have very strong
volunteerism
reputations. The Middle School welcomes and encourages parents to
continue
this tradition of volunteering. It is thanks to our dedicated and
generous
parents that we can provide events like the Halloween Party, 8th
Grade
Farewell Celebration, Reflections art contest, Staff Appreciation
Week, and
Career Day. Also, some parents help out as sports coaches or
assistants,
club leaders, classroom/team helpers, committee members,
enrichment
assistants, or administrative helpers. Research consistently
shows that
parent involvement increases student achievement and self esteem.
When
parents volunteer, both families and schools reap the benefits.
Working
closely with administration and teachers, the PTSA provides the
resources and
support you need to stay involved. We encourage everyone to get
involved in
whatever capacity works for you! We couldnt do it without you!
How do I contact the PTSA?
You can leave us a message in the mailbox in the TRMS office;
post mail to
TRMS PTSA, 44 Greenough Rd, Plaistow, NH 03865; or contact the
PTSA. TRMS teachers and staff can also
contact us through our teacher liaisons, Gail Dacey and Karen
