Timberlane Middle School PTSA Announcements

TRMS PTSA Welcomes You!

TRMS PTSA is an organization of parents, teachers and students who are committed to helping Timberlane Regional Middle School be the best that it can be.  We usually meet on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the TRMS library. We had our last full PTSA meeting for the 2007-2008 school year on May 12.  We'll be starting up meetings again in the fall. Our new board for 2008-2009 will be: Laura Lipfert (lipfertl@hotmail.com) as President; Sharon Burke and Karen McLain, as co-vice presidents: Robin Knight and Diane Coryea, as co-treasurers; and Mary Beth Donovan-Olson, as secretary. Committee chairpersons for next year are listed further down on this page.

Volunteers Needed:

We need your help on the TRMS PTSA! Below is a partial list of the remaining functions for this year that the PTSA supports. If you have already volunteered, thank you!!! If you haven't yet volunteered, but are interested in doing so, please contact Laura Lipfert at lipfertl@hotmail.com.

June 10: Info night for parents of incoming 5th graders, 6:30 - 8 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help staff PTSA tables with apparel, fliers, etc.

June 19: 8th grade celebration dance, 6:30 - 9 p.m. Volunteers needed to chaperone.

June 20: 8th grade celebration assemblies. Volunteers are needed to help scoop ice cream at the after-lunch party that follows the 8th grade celebration assemblies, at which 8th graders get their certificates and any awards and watch their team's Power Point presentation. (Bring your own scoop.)

More volunteer opportunities are listed on our volunteer page.

"Wow!": Reflections 2008-2009 Theme:

Students, you can get a headstart on next year's Reflections Arts contest! The theme is  "Wow!" and what better time to work on that than summer vacation when you will be seeing, doing and experienceing so many things that would make us all say Wow! Entries will be accepted in November (and possibly into December) in the Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Dance Choreography, Music Composition and Film/Video Production categories. Rules should be the same as for this year, and will be available at www.nhpta1.org in September. Best of luck! For more information see the Reflections page on this site. Also on our Reflections page: a theme contest with a possible $100 prize.

TRMS Raising Money for Speaker:

TRMS is hoping to bring in Kyle Maynard as a motivational speaker for the students in 2008-2009. Maynard was born without arms and legs, but went on to become a national wrestling champion and is a very inspirational speaker. His courage and can-do attitude teach about character building, respecting our bodies, the importance of tolerance of people who are different, and that there are no limits to what we can do. $7,000 is needed to bring him here. Sharon Bridson is working with students to raise money, and T-shirt sales and popcorn sales have already brought in $600. To help more, go to www.myhometownhelper.com/ViewProject.aspx?id=38447, fill out the comment section and submit. Mike Hogan said that the school will NOT be doing Rachael’s Challenge next year; but will put the money toward Maynard’s visit.
