Welcome to the TRMS Volunteer Partnerships Page
This page highlights current school volunteerism/partnership efforts and their accomplishments, and invites YOU to join with other Parents, Teachers and Staff, Students, and Business and Community Members and become a volunteer at the Middle School!
Parent Teacher Student Association PTSA The Timberlane Middle School has a very strong PTSA that helps to enrich the students both academically and socially. The main fundraisers are the membership dues, apparel sales, magazine drive (which also benefits the school), and the silent auction. The PTSA provides money for academic scholarships, Camp Lincoln scholarships, the 6th grade Halloween party, the 7th grade popsicles and ice cream in June, the 8th grade Farewell celebration and teacher appreciation events. They also coordinate many of these events. Thank you PTSA!!!
Would you like to help? You can volunteer to help with the Welcome Back Breakfast, on-going baking, the Reflections Arts Program, Magazine Drive, book fairs (as a cashier), on-going staff appreciation, bulletin board design, clerical help, chaperoning, Staff Appreciation Week, the Senior Tea, Career Day, fundraising (apparel sales), the Silent Auction, 6th Grade Halloween Party, 8th Grade Celebration, wellness, membership, publicity, occasionally staffing PTSA tables or manning tables at lunchtime, or the Dads' Group. We especially need a parent to coordinate the Halloween Party. You will have lots of help! If you are interested in helping us in any way, please e-mail us.
Student Senate/Students of Service (SOS) Students of Service, a club that the Middle School sponsored, has now been merged with the Student Senate. Any Middle School student may apply to join. The Student Senate meets once a week and gives students opportunities to experience for themselves the personal growth that comes from giving of back to their school and community. Past projects include: a 7th and 8th grade dance, Veteran’s Remembrance, hosting holiday meals for our Senior Citizens, routine administrative tasks within the school, and fundraising through weekly bake sales to donate to a Native American family. They have also collected books of US mail stamps to give to our senior citizens at the annual Vic Geary Holiday Party, and then made 100 valentines for the Veteran's Home in Tilton. Thank you, Student Senate!!!
Would you like to help? If you are interested in joining this great community service group please contact Mrs. Sherman in school. You can also visit the Student Senate page on the school website, at www.timberlanems.com.
Business and Community Members The Middle School held the annual 8th grade Career Day each spring. Over 30 professionals come to the school to talk to students about the fields that they work in. This spring event gives 8th grade students the opportunity to investigate potential careers. This annual event is held just prior to the course sign-ups for High School classes, and helps student to chose what classes they will sign up for. After all wouldn’t it be nice to know what you wanted to be when you grow up?
Another enriching experience that our business and community members have given to our students in the past is the unique experience of " Job Shadowing," generously volunteering their time to show a Middle School student the ins and outs of their jobs. Students have shadowed in the Governors office and the Celtics office, to name a couple of high profile assigments. What a great hands-on experience!
Businesses have also contributed to many of our events: providing prizes at our 6th grade Halloween party, coffee cakes for our Senior Tea, and many goods and services for our upcoming Silent Auction and Raffle. Thank You Business and Community Members and to all who orchestrate these events which inspire our children!!!
Would you like to help? If you are working in the business community and would like to get involved, check with your supervisor/employees to see in what ways they can contribute to this community service. If you would like to participate in job shadowing or career day, please contact the TRMS curriculum office. If you would like to contribute a good or service to the next PTSA Silent Auction and Raffle, in 2009, please contact Sharon Burke at sburke@mcsellc.com. If you are unsure of how you might help or if you would be willing to donate food to one of our school events, please contact us.
Parent, Grandparent and Relation Volunteers Traditionally all the Timberlane feeder towns, Atkinson, Danville, Plaistow, and Sandown, have very strong volunteerism reputations. The Middle School welcomes and encourages parents to continue to this tradition of volunteering, at the next level, within our building. Our dedicated and generous parents form the backbone of our volunteer corps. Some of the ways parents have donated a bit of their time and energy towards helping is by becoming: sports coaches/assistants, classroom/team helpers, committee members, PTSA officers & event helpers, enrichment assistants, or adminstrative/copier helpers. In 2003-2004 added a team of parent volunteers to help out in the Curriculum Office. By being seen physically in the building helping out you are demonstrating your commitment and caring towards our youth. What an excellent example you set! Thank You Parents!!!
Would you like to help? At the beginning of each school year teacher teams, the PTSA, sports coordinators, and others in need will send out sign-up forms. Choose where your interests lie and fill out and return your form. If your child's PTSA form never made it home, contact Karen McLain at karen@homecoach.org to get a new one. The Athletics form is on the school's website. Other ways to find out what is going on are to attend PTSA meetings; look at announcements on HomeworkNow.com; check out the school website regularly; and read the principal's monthly newsletter, which is posted on the school's website. If you are unsure of who to contact, or even about how you might help, please contact us.
