New prescription medication forms for the 2009-10 school year need to be filled out by your physician with parental signatures provided.

New immunization laws are in place for students entering kindergarten, 1st grade and 6th grade have to of had 2 doses of varicella before starting school in fall of 2009.   Please check with your physician's office and forward a updated copy of your child's immunization record.   Students age 11 years old or older need to have a DtaP vaccine booster.   If you received a mailing in March and another notice in your child's report card it is necessary for them to have what the State of NH Dept. of immunization requires before starting school in fall of 2009.   Make your appointments now to avoid a problem later.

Please note if you come to school to have lunch with your child and bring your lunch from home you must see the School Nurse before entering the cafeteria for the lunch to be checked over.   Thanks for your cooperation in the matter.

Soon it will be time to think about flu vaccines, especially because of the worldwide spread of pandemic H1N1.   This year the CDC is recommending three vaccines.   One will be for seasonal flu while the 2nd and 3rd vaccines are for protection of the H1N1.   There is lots of information available at www.cdc.gov website.   If your child has a fever, chills, sore muscles and cough please refrain from sending them to school.   A child needs to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.   Our district will not close school unless the State of NH Dept. of  Health and Human Services recommends it then the Suprintendent of Schools will advise us.   The CDC will monitor the spread of the disease and we will follow their advice on the ever evolving situation.   On the preventative side get immunized, teach your children to cough or sneeze into their arm, avoid touching their nose, mouth, or eyes, wash their hands with soap and water or alcohol base hand sanitizer when soap or water is not available, Do not share personal items, eating utensils or sipping drinks out of the same bottles, stay at home when sick, keep surfaces that are frequently touched clean (door knobs, counters, telephones, computers etc).   Maintain a healthy lifestyle; get enough rest, balanced diet, exercise and relaxation helps to maintain physical and emotional health.
Together we look forward to a Healthy and Productive year at Allenstown Elementary School.   If you have any questions pleases don't hesitate to contact me at the school.
