Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! I am very excited to begin our school
year together and I wish you the greatest success in all your classes. I
hope that you will find science both challenging and rewarding.
This year I am teaching college prep and honors physical science to
freshman. After the school day is over, you can find me advising REBEL Club
(Reaching Everyone By Exposing Lies). If you are thinking about getting
involved in a club, I would love to see you join REBEL. If you are

Before becoming a teacher, I spent several years working as a laboratory
technician at a water toxicity lab. I received my degree from Fairleigh
Dickinson University in marine biology and environmental science. As a
requirement of my science program, I studied for part of the summer in the
waters off of Maine and Hawaii. I was able to snorkel in the coral reefs and
participate in a sea turtle tag and release program.
Besides my love of science, I enjoy traveling. In college, I spent a
semester studying abroad in England. While in Europe, I visited castles,
museums, historic ruins and famous landmarks in France, Italy, Scotland, and
Ireland. Several summers ago I drove on a cross country road trip with
another science teacher through Nashville, New Orleans, Dallas, Santa Fe, the
Grand Canyon, and Santa Barbara.
At home, I have a Yorkshire Terrier puppy named Hunter (pictured above) and
a fluffy orange and white cat named Bailey. They both love being the center
of attention. I also have another cat named Salem. Since I was a little
kid I have always had at least two pets in my home. As you can probably
tell, I love animals. It was this interest in animals that led me to study
science in the first place.
I know that college is several "long" years away for many of you, but if you
ever have questions about FDU, marine biology, environmental science, or
working in a laboratory environment I would be more than happy to answer
them for you. Over the next ten months, I hope that you will share your
interests with me too!
