Letter to Parents/Guardians

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Your involvement is critical to your child's success at school. The following are some useful tips to ensure both you and your child have a positive school year:

1. Develop good homework/study habits right away. Establish routines and be consistent.

2. Spend time each day to dicuss your child's day at school. Express interest in what they are saying and listen to their viewpoint even if you're not in agreement.

3. Do your part to develop a positive relationship with your child's teacher. Be sure to introduce yourself or send a friendly e-mail informing them of the best way and time to reach you.

4. Give your child responsibilities at home to help build independence, responsibility, and self assurance.

5. Monitor the time and content of television and computer use. Try to limit this activity, especially when the weather is nice outside. Encourage your children to get outdoors and take in the fresh air!

If you want any further details about these tips or others, feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Schwam, LSW
