Behavior Policy:
Respect is a major value in Room 210. In the beginning of the year, we
agree as a classroom community on rules and procedures in order to create an
environment in which students are able to work and learn
successfully. We also discuss throughout the year the meaning of respect and
what it means to respect oneself and others. Students are expected to adhere
to the procedures discussed as a class. This includes acceptable behavior in
the classroom. Students will be given a nonverbal warning from the teacher
for disruptive behavior. A second violation results in a verbal warning from
the teacher, and a third resulting in the loss of recess minutes. If
disruptive behavior continues the teacher will work with the student and
family in order to remedy the problem and help the student to become
comfortable and successful in the classroom.
Rewards:
Students are also rewarded for good behavior, positive attitude, and
dedication. Students are awarded gumballs. When they reach a particular spot
in the gumball machine, whole class rewards are given. Students may also
receive "table tallies" for teamwork within a table cluster. Individual
students may earn these rewards for the class or table at any time.
Homework Policy:
Homework is an essential part of the third grade curriculum. It serves as
an extension of concepts convered in class as well as a way for families to
become involved with children's school work.
It is the responsibility of the student to copy homework into his or her
school agenda daily. Students should not rely soley on this website to
provide all homework information, as homework may be altered on any given day.
Homework is expected to be completed and is usually due the following day,
unless otherwise noted. At times students may be expected to also finish any
uncompleted classwork.
Incomplete homework does not just "go away." Students will be expected to
complete homework during recess or turn in other uncompleted work the
following day. If students fail to return homework three times in a marking
period, families will be contacted in order to work together and help the
student become successful.
