What is included in 3rd Grade TAG ?

This year students will have an opportunity to work with a variety of stimulating problem solving activities. Students will solve mysteries, “Stories with Holes,” word puzzles and participate in the Kids Science Challenge. As the term progresses, students will create their own Science projects, develop word puzzles and write their own mystery.

What is included in 4th GradeTAG?

Students will be competing in the Stock Market Challenge (SMC) sponsored by the New Jersey Council on Economic Education at Kean University. The SMC is an educational simulation that teaches about the stock market, American economic system, finances and investments. Students have an opportunity to hypothetically invest $100,000. There will also be an opportunity for students to interview a parent or guardian about his/her childhood. Students will then have the opportunity to use a program called HyperStudio to develop a creative project to display and share their research.

What is included in 5th Grade Verbal?

This year students will have an opportunity to read and analyze a variety of short stories and novels. Students will develop an awareness of an authors’ use of language and literary techniques. Students will be completing a number of reading and writing activities to introduce them to different writing styles and to improve each individual’s knowledge and use of a more mature vocabulary. Students will also take an active part in a service learning project of their choice.
Later in the year, students will be asked to develop stories that they will present as a storytelling presentation for the Kindergarten students. We will practice dramatic techniques to help students build their presentation skills. Be sure to ask your child to share what he/she is working on.
