How does my child receive speech and language services?

If you have a specific concern regarding your child's speech
pattern, contact your child's classroom teacher to fill out a
referral form. Once I receive the referral form, I will contact
you to schedule an Evaluation Planning Meeting. At this meeting,
we will discuss your concerns and what the teacher is seeing in
the classroom. If we agree an evaluation is warranted, the
process will continue. The evaluation will include a
standardized (articulation) test, in addition to a classroom
observation. After the evaluation has been completed, an
Eligibility Meeting will be scheduled. At this meeting, we will
discuss the evaluation results and determine whether or not your
child is eligible to receive Speech/ Language services in the
school setting.

If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please
contact me so we can discuss.

How can I help my child meet his/her speech and language goals?

Each child will develop at his/ her own pace. It is important to
familiarize yourself with your child's communication abilities
and his/ her individualized goals.
- Does my child speak in complete sentences?
- Does my child undertsand multi-step directions?
- Does my child misarticulate certain sounds?
The activities included in his/ her Speech/ Language notebook are
specifically geared toward targeting these individualized goals.
If you have any questions regarding your child, please contact me
