¿Qué tal, amigos?

Book 1a What a great time we had at Casa Maya! Our meals were muy delicioso, and all of the students agreed that the bunuelos (a dessert made with a crispy tortilla covered in cinammon sugar) were out of this world. Students communicated in Spanish with the camareros to order their food and ask other questions. Muchas gracias to our parent volunteers for getting our hungry students there - and our stuffed students home!

During the week of February 13th, 6th grade will continue practicing school vocabulary in context as well as using the irregular verbs estar and ir. Check the Book 1a Links tab at the left to practice!

Book 1b During the week of February 13th students will practice the stem-changing verb jugar (to play). They will also learn 2 verbs that are frequently confused by English speakers: saber and conocer. Both are translated into English as “to know,” although saber is used for knowing information or how to do something, and conocer is used to talk about people or places that we know. Students have been down this road before, having already tackled ser and estar, which are both translated into English as “to be.” (“To be - or the other to be? – that is the question!” jokes one of our posters.)

**Our Unidad 6 Lección 1 chapter test is scheduledfor Thursday, February 23rd.**
