In Write Traits, the students learned about using voice in writing. They were all given the same topic and told to write 1 or 2 sentences about the topic. When the sentences were read, they all were filled with different emotions. Some were serious, some were totally imaginative, and others were funny. The sentences showed how the voice was different for each student. As an extension lesson, students then analyzed three different writing samples to determine if they contained elements of voice.
