This Week in Prekindergarten

Our classroom is beginning to look a lot like Valentine’s Day! This week we will be constructing our mailboxes and creating heart people to hang in the room. Everyone did a fantastic job writing words on their conversation hearts last week, and we will continue to practice writing words when we make valentines for our pencil pals this week.

Our letter of the week is ‘B’, and we will be brainstorming words, writing upper and lowercase letters, and making symmetrical butterflies. We will also continue to work on sounding out three-letter words, and rhyming words.

Our bank is now filled with lots of pennies, and everyone is looking forward to counting their way to 100. Once we reach 100, we will be learning that 100 pennies = $1. This will be a great way to celebrate the 100th day of school, along with our famous 100th Day Buffet. This year I will be asking for volunteers to send in small snacks for our buffet. The concept of the buffet is to have 10 different bite-sized, healthy snacks that the students will use to count by 10’s, equaling 100 snacks on their plates. Please watch your emails for a sign-up sheet!

Chef Mark (Mrs. Jablonski’s husband) will be coming in to cook with the Early Childhood Division this Tuesday. We are all excited to wear our chef hats and cook with a real chef!
