Here are a few activities to keep the kids busy as a bee!
*Reading - Whether it's an adult, another child, or your child reading, reading is always a great activity.
*Writing – Children should spend time writing. This writing can and should include illustrations of things done recently, or books they have read. The boys and girls can then identify some of the objects in the pictures by stretching out the word and writing what letter sounds they hear.
*Card games – Hi/Low is the ultimate math game. It can be played the traditional way, where the highest (or lowest) card takes the pile. It can be also be played the addition way, flip two cards and add them together, the highest sum wins.
*Card games for subtraction – Remove face cards and tens. These will be set aside as the base card. Each player flips over a card and subtracts it from 10. The highest difference wins.
*Dice and dominoes - Dice and dominoes make for great addition games. Whether you add the two numbers that were rolled, or add the dots on the top and bottom of the domino, addition is the way to go. This idea can be modified for subtraction as well.
