If my child has a fever when can they return to school?

Due to the current concern regarding H1N1 Flu the East Brunswick
Board of Education is following CDC guidelines that a child with
a fever shall not return to school for seven days after the onset
of fever, or even longer if they still have symptoms. If a child
is seen by s physician and the child is medically cleared to
return to school they may return sooner with a physician's note.

I have a question about the district nutrition policy in regards to birthdays.

On page 25 of the district calendar the Child Nutrition policy is
reviewed.
The policy is also available on the district website(Student
Wellness/Nutrition Policy). Foods of minimal nutritional value
cannot be
given out. This includes all candy, soda, ice pops and candy
coated popcorn.
Birthday treats cannot be homemade and must include the
ingrediant label on
the product. Please be aware that there are numerous students
with food
allergies at Chittick. Child Nutrition offers different treats
that can be
ordered for delivery to your child's classroom. Any questions
about ordering
can be answered at 732-613-6831. An alternative to birthday foods
is to
consider sending in stickers, pencils, small erasers or bookmarks
in lieu of
snacks. You are welcome to donate a book to your child's classroom
library.
You can discuss alternatives with your child's teacher.

Will my child need a physical this year?

An entry physical is all that your child is required to have at
the
elementary level. If your child receives any updates of
vaccinations please
send a copy in to school so that I may update their health
records.

My child will need medication in school. What should I do?

Administrative policy requires the school nurse to have a written
order from
your child's physician and written parental permission to
adminster
medication at school. Please see the nurse for the medication
consent form.
All medication must be given to the school nurse, by an adult, in
a pharmacy
labeled container which includes the child's name.
