How do I become a member of the Chittick PTA ?
It's simple!! You can sign up in person at "Kindergarten/New
Student Orientation" or during "Back To School Night". You can
also download a membership form from the PTA Forms Page & return
it, along with your dues, to the school in an envelope
marked “PTA Membership”. You can have your child give the
envelope to their teacher or you can drop it off at the schools
administrative office. If paying dues by check, please make the
check payable to the "Chittick PTA".
If I join the Chittick PTA, do I have to volunteer & attend PTA meetings?
Well, in a nutshell, once you have joined the Chittick PTA,
nothing is "required" of you. Your level of participation &
involvement in PTA activities, although encouraged, is entirely
up to you!! You are not required to attend meetings or volunteer
your time, unless you want to...
The PTA welcomes & encourages all members to participate in all
PTA sponsored activities & PTA monthly meetings...
How much does it cost to join the Chittick PTA?
Membership is as easy as paying a one-time fee of $7.00/per
person for the school year. A one-parent household costs $7.00.
A two-parent household costs $14.00. Other family members such
as grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc... are also welcome to join.
Please know that your membership dues, along with money earned
from fundraising events, are what supports all the various
activities & educational opportunities that the PTA makes
available for all the students of Chittick.
Some of these programs include: Cultural Arts Programs, Faculty
Grants & many of the year’s social activities.
Without your membership & support, these would just not be
possible.
When & where are the PTA meetings?
The PTA holds monthly meetings in The Chittick School Library.
For School Year 2011-2012, the meetings will alternate on Tuesdays &
Wednesdays to accomodate folks who can't always attend on a Tuesday.
Also, we adjusted the schedule & the meetings will now start earlier,
at 7:00pm. Please check the Calendar Page on this site for exact dates.
Light refreshments are available.
Babysitting services are available if you need to bring your
child with you to the meeting.
The PTA welcomes & encourages all members of the PTA to come out
& attend our monthly meetings. And remember, being a member of
the PTA gives you the "right to vote" at PTA meetings.
At the monthly PTA meetings, you can expect to see the PTA
Executive Board, the Principal (or designee if the
Principal is unavailable), other members of the Chittick
Faculty, Committee Representatives & other Parents/Family
Members.
How do I get e-mail updates from the Chittick PTA?
That is very easy...
As of 4/12/11, The Chittick PTA moved to a new email system
called "Parent Express Mail". Parent Express Mail replaced
"Newsflashes" previously sent from this PTA Website. If you were
registered to receive NewsFlashes as of 4/12/11, then no action
is required by you, your email address has already been migrated
to the new email system. If you want to register a new email
address or are new to this site, then simply copy & paste the
below link into your email browser address bar to navigate to the

Once you register, you will receive up to date information and
reminders from the Chittick PTA. There is also a link to the
Parent Express Mail on the NewsFlash Page.

Does the Chittick PTA have a facebook page ?
Actually, we do. After you log into your facebook account,
search for: "Murray A. Chittick Elementary School PTA" and when
you find us, click "like". You will get updates on your newsfeed
from the Chittick PTA as well as event reminders...
How do I volunteer to participate in school activities sponsored by the PTA?
There are many different opportunities available to you if you
want to volunteer your time to support your child, their school
and the Chittick PTA. There are several different ways to find
out what opportunities are available, such as:
1. Monitor your child's folder nightly for flyers/papers that are
sent home from the PTA.
2. Attend the monthly PTA meetings to hear firsthand what is
happening in your child's school. You can sign up to volunteer
for different events right there during the meetings.
3. Monitor your email for NewsFlashes from the PTA (don't forget
to go to the "NewsFlash Page" to register your email so you don't
miss important emails from the PTA).
4. Come back to check out the PTA Website frequently for
announcements or requests for assistance.
5. Contact members of the PTA Board directly or simply click on
the little purple mailbox on the top right hand corner of this
page to send the Chittick PTA an email with your inquiry.
I lost a form or flyer that was sent home by the PTA, how can I get another one?
That's easy. Many of the important flyers or forms that the PTA
sends home are also on this website. Simply click the link for
the PTA Forms Page (or Committee Chair Forms Page) to look for
the form you need. If it is there, you can download & print it
directly from this website. If you do not see what you are
looking for, you can always contact a member of the PTA Board
directly or email the PTA by clicking on the little purple
mailbox at the top right hand corner of this page.
What are Box Tops?
Box Tops For Education is a free program where you cut out Box
Tops Coupons from participating products found in your grocery
store. You then send them in to Chittick. The PTA will submit
them to the Box Tops Program. Chittick earns 10¢ for each Box
Top redeemed.
It's a simple way to help the PTA earn "free $" to support
Chittick & the students.

How to I send in the Box Tops I have collected to Chittick?
It's very easy... After clipping Box Top Coupons, you can put
them into an envelope or zip lock bag. Put your child's name,
grade & teacher's name on them so that your child gets the
credit. Then you can either:
1. Send them into school with your child to give to the teacher
or
2. Drop them into the Box Top Collection Box in the Chittick
Lobby.
Remember, you can collect even more Box Tops by enlisting the
help of your friends & family (grandparents/aunts/uncles/etc...)
The Chittick PTA will gladly accept any & all donated Box Tops!!!
Are there other ways to earn free $$ for Chittick through Box Tops For Education?

Box Tops Market Place:
You can also earn extra money for Chittick by using the Box Tops
Marketplace to do your online shopping. You start at the Box
Tops Marketplace at www.btfe.com and then click on the link to
any one of the more than 70 online stores; you'll be redirected
to that store's web site. Shop & check out like you normally
would & a portion of your qualifying purchase is donated to
Chittick.
Box Tops Reading Room:
The Reading Room lets you earn money for Chittick when you shop
online @ Barnes & Noble. First, you must start at the Box Tops
Reading Room at www.btfe.com and then click on the 'shop now'
link, you will be sent to the Barnes & Noble website. Shop &
check out as you normally would, and Barnes & Noble will
automatically donate up to 6% of qualified purchases to Chittick.
