2011-2012Executive Board Meeting

April 23, 2012

TheMeeting was called to order by President Linda House at 7:19 pm.

Minutes:Linda House waved the reading of the minutes. Motionto accept made by Laudine Markovchick, seconded by Cheryl Krementz.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer’s report read by Melissa Kittles.Motion to accept made by Marsha Gernhardt, seconded by Virginia Chow. 

  

a.      Vote on expenditure request:First request: $200.00 contribution to Goodwin Museum tosponsor Holocaust survivor visit for 7thgrade, Motion to acceptmade by Jeff House, seconded by Terri Warren. Second request:$700.00 request to cover Awards for 8thgrade graduation. (total of7 awards)  Motion to accept made by Cheryl Krementz,seconded by Laudine Markovchick.

Correspondence: 5 Correspondence read by Marsha Gernhardt. Thank you notes from red house teachers forthe snacks and luncheon provided by PTA. Thank you note from Librarian for bookdonation and thank you note from project graduation donation.

President’s Report –Linda House

a.      Strategic Planning Goals 2017-Experience EveshamEducation. Next meeting on May 7that 7 PM at MMS.

b.      Upcoming Events – NJASK testing. / 4-26 take yourchild to work day. / 4-26 celebrating Earth Day with activities. / RenaissanceSpirit Days coming up, 5-4 Decade Day, 5-25 Neon Day, 6-1 Twin Day. / CrossTown Classic –MMS vs. DMS 1.5 mile running race. Thursday May 31stat MMS. Open to all students and will bescored as competition. Look on website for all these updates and furtherdetails.

Executive/Committee

DeMasi ClothingSale– Contest to create new DeMasiLogo. Kids submit design win a $25 gift card. Chris Ciotti talked about.

SpringFundraiser Ideas– Carolyn Quigg – newfundraiser with “school kit supplies” and new fundraiser with Panchero’s.

School Store-Next store May 4th. Erin Borman will take over and Chair theschool store for Marsha Gernhardt next year.

Snack Cart-Virginia Chow and Kathleen Donahue-everyMonday-Thursday. We would like to have two volunteers for snack cart each time.If you would like help and volunteer, please email Kathleen at kathleenandjoe@yahoo.com

Principal’sReport -Ms. Romanelli thankedparents for getting kids to school on time for testing. Talked about graduation and any conflictswith Cherokee. Talked about 2nd time inPTO Today magazine. Went over fundraisersupply list. Also talked about the peep winning contest.

a.      Vote on expenditure request:First request: $270.00 to purchase 15 titled books for thelibrary, Motion to accept made by Tina Timmins, seconded by Christie Siedlarz. Second request: for five $5.00 Wal-Mart gift cards for SeniorCitizen Dessert Theatre on April 3rd. Motion to accept made by Mrs. Myers, secondedby Laudine Markchovich.

Correspondence: 3 Correspondence read by Marsha Gernhardt. Thank you notes from green and red houseteachers for the snacks and luncheon provided by PTA.

LibraryVolunteers – thank you to all the volunteers that signed up to help out in thelibrary.

The“Common Ground” art exhibit created by DeMasi students will be on display inthe Noyes Museum’s Young Art Gallery until January 28th. More info can be found on our website.

Executive/Committee

DeMasi ClothingSale– Chris Ciotti - clothing orderswere delivered before the winter break. Extra items ordered; see Chris Ciotti if you would like to purchase PJpants, T-shirts or Sweatpants. Clothingitems will be available for purchase at the school store on the first Friday ofevery month while supplies last.

Snowball Dance– Marsha Gernhardt - a Big, “Thank You” to all the volunteers who helped makethe dance such a wonderful success. Thekids had a great time and everything went smoothly. Thank you!

Fall Fundraisers: 

DeMasi Clothing Sale – Chris Ciotti is taking orders for Sweatshirts, T-Shirts, and PJ pants. Orders due by Mon, Nov. 28th. Sweatshirts can be purchased online. For link and order forms go to the PTA website at www.DeMasiPTA.org   

Snowball Dance - Chaired by Marsha Gernhardt who will be forming decorating/food committees. Please contact Marsha Gernhardt if interested at njfamily5@verizon.net   

Spring Fundraiser Ideas – Carolyn Quigg – talked about a new fundraiser with “school kit supplies” offered by Staples for the new start up school year. More information to come.

Principal’s Report-

          “Faceless” Hip Hop assembly was a huge success, thank you!

Mrs. Romanelli talked about the “Noise Museum” in Ocean County. The students will display their concepts of the “common ground” they have been working on for the month of January. More information to come out per Ms. Keenen.

Mrs. Romanelli made a motion for $300.00 to have police patrol for Dance dismissal on Jan. 20th. Laudine Markovchick made motion to accept and Terri Warren seconded it.

8th Grade Snowball Dance – January 20th from 7 pm to 9 pm

           Thank you to the “Garden Fairies.” The front of the school looks wonderful.

B. Guitar Elective- Is an 8th grade elective taught by Ms. Goldman. A motion was made for $1,097.52 for guitars and books and strings for this elective. Motion to accept by Arlene Harvey, seconded by Jeff House.

C. 6th grade dance- Oct. 28th

D. 8th grade snowball dance- Jan. 20? (Tentative date)

E. Book Fair

 

Committees Report –

A. School Store-Marsha Gernhardt talked about volunteering for the school store. First store is Oct. 7th

Teacher’s Report-

A. Mrs. Myers talked about the new transition with the 6th graders is going well. Teachers making sure your PTA dues are in.

 

Principal’s Report-

A. Thank you for the wonderful Breakfast for all the teachers and especially the new teachers.

B. Thank you to all who helped at back to school night to make it a big success.

C. Need to do a parents seminar for Harassment/ Bully

D. LRHD- “Defy the Issue” for the 7 graders in the spring for students and parents.

F. “Faceless” Hip Hop assembly in October

E. Community service-talked about pulling weeds for the school.
