We continue to work very hard in first grade!
In reading, we will start a new lesson on Monday. Please continue to review
vocabulary in your child's notebook as often as possible. We are building a
strong vocabulary background. Any extra review/practice from previous lists
will help your child master his/her vocabulary!
Each week students will have a spelling test on Friday. Spelling words and
dictation sentence are always written in the Friday Letter so you have a
chance to begin reviewing words etc. for the upcoming week.
We have completed our unit on animals. Please review the studyguide which was
sent home. Theme test will be Thursday, December 3rd. Our next unit will
focus on bears: their characteristics and habitats.
In math, we are learning about various subtraction strategies/concepts. We'll
also be learning about fact families. Please review these skills at home.
