Prof Haughney’s Personal Teaching Philosophy:
I am a firm believer in every student’s ability to learn and make
progress. Such achievements are made possible through a teacher’s sincere
desire to reach out and help students. Such achievements are also attained
through a teacher’s positive attitude, discipline, patience, and a sincere
love of children.
I believe in energetic and contextualized teaching in order to bring
life and validity to any subject, and that creativity is key to sparking
interest, and inspiring one’s students.
I am a firm believer in respect being a reciprocal feeling which must
be genuine, especially on the part of the adult, and not simply a given right
of any adult or teacher by virtue of their age and position.
I believe that a good teacher is an organized, well-informed,
compassionate and dedicated teacher.
I believe that it is a teacher’s duty to discover and appreciate the
individuality in each and every student, to recognize the potential each one
has, and to foster that potential, inspiring confidence and the ability to
excel, no matter where that talent that may lie.
Finally, I believe that every teacher is entrusted with the ultimate
responsibility and most awesome power; that of influencing and shaping a
child’s attitudes and perceptions of the real world, human kind, and
themselves.
“Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers; powers that would
astonish him, that he never dreamed of possessing; forces that would
revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action.”
