About Your Teacher

Mrs. Haughney grew up overseas, living in Europe, North Africa and South
America before coming to the United States for college. She speaks 6
languages fluently: English, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and
Friulano (formerly a northern Italian dialect)and has to work on remembering
her German (which she spoke fluently in middle school).

Mrs. Haughney attended Emerson College in Boston, MA. for one year before
pursuing a professional dance career which took her to NYC, Montreal Canada,
and South America. After a short-lived career due to injury, she trained
and worked in hotel management, then as a travel agent, as a dance teacher,
and later as a self-employed store owner. Mrs. Haughney returned to college
to complete her education after marrying and having 2 sons, receiving an
Associates degree in Liberal Arts at Middlesex County College, NJ. A self-
admitted poor student in high school, Mrs. Haughney finally tapped into her
potential and graduated with highest honors at MCC, receiving a full tuition
scholarship to Montclair State University where she graduated Suma Cum Laude
with a Bachelor's degree in French and a minor in Spanish and Italian. Mrs.
Haughney is triple certified to teach Spanish, French and Italian.

Mrs. Haughney travels to Italy often, where her parents live 7 months out of
the year(her mother is Italian). She LOVES teaching, traveling, interior
decorating, and especially - dancing!

If at first you fail; TRY... and try again!

My aim is to help you learn, to help you appreciate foreign language and
foreign cultures, to help you believe in your abilities and learn to
respect yourself and others.

Teaching is more than just a job to me, it is a commitment which I take very
seriously. I am dedicated to providing quality instruction and a positive
learning experience in a setting that stimulates, motivates and challenges
all of my students.

It is my mission to help you exercise your potential. I believe that all
students can succeed in their own unique ways, and it is my job to provide
opportunities to help you tap into that potential, develop a positive self-
image, and succeed. I hold high expectations for each of my students, and
will help you meet them.

Learning a second language is an essential part of your future in an
expanding, global society. Not only will it help you with SAT’s, it will
also allow you to gain a competitive edge in the future job market.
