I understand that when it comes to assignments you (as a motivated and focused
student) want to get it right the first time around. To make that possible you
must have answers to all of your questions and concerns. Any questions on
assignments (i.e. labs, long term homework assignments, test format, etc.)
will be answered on this page.
- What format will the test/quiz be in?
- Is homework accepted late?
- The lab was due one week ago and I forgot to hand it in. Is it worth it to hand it in?
- If I know that I am going to be out of school for a selected amount of time should I inform you and get work?
- Is a long term project considered late if I am absent on the due date?
- When am I (Ms. Cohen) available?
- What do I do when I am absent?
What format will the test/quiz be in?
All tests and quizzes could be a mixture of any of the following:
multiple choice, fill in the blank, use a word bank, labeling
structures, drawing structures and/or mechanisms and open ended
questions. I will try to never administer a test or quiz with the same
format all the way through.
Is homework accepted late?
School policy states that homework should be completed and in the designated
classroom on the day it due. If a student is unable to present the assignment
it is to be considered a 0. Forgetting it at home, not doing it, leaving it in
your locker are not considered excusable excuses. Sometimes there are
circumstances that will change this policy. The wise thing to do is to come
speak with me.
The lab was due one week ago and I forgot to hand it in. Is it worth it to hand it in?
Handing in an assignment is always worth it! Earning one point is better than
receiving a zero.
If I know that I am going to be out of school for a selected amount of time should I inform you and get work?
ABSOLUTELY! By getting work ahead of time you will have less make-up work to
complete upon your return.
Is a long term project considered late if I am absent on the due date?
It depends. If the project can be submitted through email and
I do not receive it, then yes, it will be considered late. If the
project is unable to be submitted through email I will expect to
hear from you or a guardian on the due date. If I do not hear from
you or a guardian on the due date then the project will be considered
late. I understand being absent but we must learn responsibility under
all circumstances.
When am I (Ms. Cohen) available?
I am available before school everyday. I make it a point to be in my classroom
by 7am everyday. I am generally in the building after school everyday.
Occasionally, I have other obligations that do not allow me to stay. That is why it is
important to always double check with me that I am staying after school.
What do I do when I am absent?
Ask your classmates for help (copy notes, do now, etc.) and come see me.
You are responsible for everything you miss!
