Hello! My name is Mrs. Biancamano and this year I will be working as a teacher of English
Language Learners in the Metuchen School District (for the past seven years I have worked as a
Spanish teacher at Edgar Middle School).
I have always had an interest and love for languages, and I look forward to working with
students whose primary languages are not English. As I help my students to better understand
the English language and American culture, I hope to learn a lot about their languages and
cultures in return.
I always loved studying English (I am a self-admitted grammar geek!), and I became fascinated
with foreign languages when I began learning Spanish in elementary school. I continued studying
Spanish throughout high school and college, and I also studied French and German as an
undergraduate at Douglass College/Rutgers University. To broaden my knowledge in regard to
language learning, I am completing my Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers
of Other Languages (TESOL).
I am married and have two sons named Thomas and Matthew. Teaching is a passion of mine,
but I love to do many other things when I am not working! I enjoy spending time with my family
and friends, watching my sons play sports, hanging out at the beach, seeing Broadway shows,
reading, and listening to music (I am a HUGE Bruce Springsteen fan and have seen him in
concert over 50 times!).
I look forward to a rewarding and successful 2010-2011 school year!
The mission of my class is to establish a comfortable classroom atmosphere where students are
able to interact, communicate, and gain a command of the English language through speaking,
listening, reading, and writing activities.
I like my classroom to be a place where teaching/learning is a shared experience of richness,
wonder, exploration, discovery, and FUN!!!
