Mrs. DiMeo

Welcome to first grade!! First grade is a big year for your child. They will learn to become more independent and responsible for their work. This will occur through daily events and special activities that will be planned for your child. Throughout the year your child will be exposed to many exciting programs in school and we will have some wonderful activities for them to participate in. In September, the students will be introduced to the routines and procedures for first grade. October will bring some Halloween fun. The students will participate in a Halloween parade and have a spooktacular party. Please feel free to come and see all of the terrific costumes. In November, we will have our Thanksgiving Festival which will allow your child to interact with the entire first grade while making crafts. In December, your child will learn to give back to the community by making cards for seniors and through The Giving Tree assembly. In February, your child will make cards for their classmates. Happy Valentine's Day! March will bring Leprechauns! The students will work collaboratively with students from the entire first grade to make Leprechaun traps. As a family in April, you will be packaging an egg so that it won't break. Then Dr. Canning will throw it off of the school's roof. Good Luck!! In May, the students will be completing research on their animal reports and using the computer lab to create a finished project. June brings the end of the year and Our Celebration of Learning. The parents will be invited to school to participate in games with their child and to have a picnic. The students will share memories of first grade with their parents.
