School is starting in a couple of weeks and we are eager to meet you and get to know more about you!  Get ready to discover, learn, and do a lot of new and fascinating things this year in 4th grade.  Look forward to learning many interesting topics such as Native American Studies, Electricity, Volume, Probability, Animal Adaptations, Author Studies, and lots of great writing – to only name a few!!

We are busily preparing ourselves and making the necessary preparations in our classrooms for the long awaited first day of school.  Anxiously awaiting the upcoming events of the year, we are ready for a fun-filled and educationally enriching school year!

Here is a list of a few supplies you could bring with you on the first day to make your transition to 4th grade a breeze.Don’t worry if you can’t find everything for the first day of school; you will have plenty of time to get all you need when school starts.

  1. A sturdy folder for each subject
  2. 2 one subject notebooks
  3. pencil case with pencils and eraser tops
  4. scissors
  5. glue stick
  6. colored pencils
  7. A 100 or more page novel (fiction)

Do not bring in a trapper or a hard pencil case…they will not fit into your desk.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, read a good book, and take it easy!  We’ll be waiting for you on the first day!

Writing

Write in a journal. This is a terrific way to keep those writing skills moving forward!

Look forward to our Friday letters every weekend for details about your son or daughter's busy week at school. Please try to write back -- everyone loves a handwritten letter.

Our word study occurs each Tuesday. These words will come home in their Word Study Notebooks and the skills should be practiced as much as possible. Students will demonstrate word knowledge on a test of these words after two weeks of study and manipulation of the sort.

I look forward to a fantastic year of reading, writing, and exploring! If you ever have a question or concern, please contact me as soon as possible. My email is drusso@wtschools.org or my extension is 3114.

And always....Thank you for your support at home!!
