August 2008
Dear Students and Parents,
It may be summer, but the third grade teachers at Flocktown have one thing
on their minds…the first day of school! We are very excited as we plan for
the upcoming year. We are setting up our classrooms and preparing to meet
our new class of third graders.
Third grade is so much fun. It is a year of adventures and challenges. Wait
until you see all the wonderful things we have planned for you! From
language arts and math, to science and social studies, you are going to
learn more than you can imagine. Best of all, you are going to make lots of
friends, you’ll see!
You are probably wondering what you need for school. We have compiled a list
of necessary supplies. Please bring them on the first day of school. Along
with your new school supplies, you’ll need a snack to enjoy each day between
breakfast and lunch. Our snack is a “working snack.” That means your snack
must be easy to eat. Think one-handed, healthy snacks, such as a cheese
stick, grapes, or crackers. Candy, chips, and cookies are not allowed. Water
is the only permissible beverage. Feel free to keep a water bottle on your
desk.
We are looking forward to meeting each one of you! It’s going to be a great
school year. Enjoy the rest of your vacation. See you September 3rd!
Sincerely,
The Third Grade Teachers

than three words, try another book.

small to accommodate them)

• Soft, zippered pencil pouch (no pencil boxes)
