The Frenchtown Board of Education is a seven member body, elected by the Frenchtown community, that establishes policies, approves personnel, adopts budgets, approves curriculum, awards bids and makes final decisions on educational issues. Meetings are open to the public except when matters of confidentially are discussed, in conformance with the NJ Open Public Meetings Act.
The board works under a committee system, with a Curriculum Committee and a Business Committee. Each committee is comprised of three board members and meets monthly to conduct board business. These meetings are not open to the public, but minutes of these meetings are shared with the full board at the public meeting. The board president serves to enable communication between the committees and can fill in on a committee in the event of another member’s absence.
The Board of Education does not run the school; it ensures the school is well run.

Citizens are invited to attend Board meetings and may address the Board during two public comment opportunities, held at the beginning and end of each meeting.
