Science:
In preparation for our Planetarium unit today I explained the moon project.
This is worth 100 points towards your science grade. Everybody received a
large sheet of paper folded into 16 boxes. Each box represents a day of the
week. Your child needs to make a daily moon observation which will include
the date, time (including AM or PM),sky conditions and a drawing of the
moon. As I explained in class you can record your observation at any time
during the day. This project is also to be done over the weekends. This
project will be complete on January 19th.
Leave the project at home so you can record your observation each day.
The moon will be changing over the next few days so be on the lookout for
this. You will also be able to see the planet Jupiter near the moon so you
can include this in your drawings.
This project will be graded as a test, out of 100 points.

Directions for New Jersey Lenape Postage Stamp Project
You have been hired by the United States Postal Service to design a postage stamp depicting the Lenape Indians. You will use all that you have learned about these people to create a postage stamp to honor them. Your stamp can depict any of the topics that we covered about the Lenape. For example, where they lived, how they survived in the outdoors, what they did during the many seasons, and family life are just a few ideas to think about.
Using the blank pattern provided, your stamp must include USA and 44 cents. Take a look at some real postage stamps so that you have an idea of what a stamp should look like. All drawings must be hand drawn. No computer copies or photocopies. Nothing can be glued or taped to your stamp. Your stamp must be colorful and use the entire pattern provided. All work must be done neatly. Finished stamps will be displayed in the hallway.
The postage stamp is due on Friday December 16th.
