Dance Residency 2007-2008

Speaking Through Dance

Objectives:

To broaden the students’ knowledge and appreciation of Dance

To develop physical skills

To develop cognitive and perceptual skills

To foster growth in emotional skills

Before the Residency:

·        In the music class, students will be given a brief introduction to modern dance: brief history, picture gallery, vocabulary, and questions for discussion.

·        In the music class, students will complete a Dance word search.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company will present a dance unit to all 5th grade students.

The focus will be on modern dance as an expressive and communicative art form

.

There will be a dance performance assembly for 4^th and 5^th graders on December 14^th 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Frost School APR.

5^th grade students will have dance classes during some of their music periods in January, February, April and May.

All fifth grade students are required to participate.
